how to dispose formalin?

Question:

Answers:
If the solution contains formaldehyde in concentrations less than 0.1 percent, you can pour waste solution into the sanitary sewer (but not down the storm drain or into a septic system). If the concentration of formaldehyde is greater than 0.1 percent, you cannot put the untreated solution down the drain. Most solutions contain at least 5 percent buffered formalin. You must either collect the solution and dispose of it as hazardous waste (contact your local waste authority) or deactivate the formaldehyde solution with a commercially available treatment chemical.
