What does it mean when your eye twitches?
Question:
Answers:
It appears most eye twiches are harmless, involuntary spasms of the tiny muscles surrounding the eye. Some causes are fatigue, squinting a lot, consuming too much caffeine, or working in a less than ideal visual environment, e.g., staring at a computer screens for long periods of time. Just like a muscle spasm at any other part of the body, an eye twitch can mean you've taxed your muscles and need to relax them
TO THE PREVIOUS POSTER- anyone with normally functioning eyes will blink if you tap anywhere near the eye. Eye twitching is not indicative of low potassium! I regurlarly nurse patients with low poatassium and none have ever had eye twitches at the same time. You gets CRAMPS with low Kcl which is why you have bananas :)

OMG, a while ago my one eye twiched every time I sneezed. It sometimes did it for a few days in a row. Quite annoying.
mine does that too. i think we have TES (twitchy eye syndrome) lol
P.S. i don't think that's a real disease. lol
stress, low sleep, not blinking enough while at computer just a muscle spasm. dont get too worried. but if it lasts for a long time, i guess u could go get it checked out.
It is usually a sign that the eye is tired.
If you are stressed or keeping long hours, this may be the cause.
Good Luck

it means that you are tired Ive heard from numerous sources that it is your body telling you that your over tired, it's an involuntary movement. get some sleep !
Yes!, It could be stress related or maybe your little eyeballs needs to be cleaned you know flushed with an eye drop. it may be causing the eye to twitch.. dirt behind your eye lid..
I once had the very same problem and I asked my doctor why? when I drink coffee does my right eye hurt me. and his reply too me was, Try removing the spoon.. and you know what!.. He was right. Lol, Lol.
It happens to me once in a while when I'm really nervous about something. Do you get migraine headaches?
Reason I ask is this: I started two years ago with the exact same symptom--just sitting there and all of a sudden the left eye would start twitching (wildly at times). This was a prelude (in my case) to ocular migraines--medical name is opthalmoplegic migraine, which is a rare form of migraine headache that is felt around the eye. (According to mayoclinic.com, a great website).
An ocular migraine can cause severe migraine. They are often connected with weakness of the muscles around the eye.
They can affect your vision. The process causing them is not well understood. One possible cause is inflammation of the blood vessels around the eye. (Is your left eye ever bloodshot: mine wasn't). They say that allergic reactions are another possible cause.
Symptoms vary, but may include:
double vision.droopy eyelid (ptosis).eye paralysis.other types of vision changes.severe headache pain.
Don't know if this is helpful, but would suggest seeing an ophthalmologist. Eyes and sight are way too precious! I answered this same exact question a while back and the guy tried what I said and he said it worked perfectly.
Maybe you have the same problem.
It might be that you are low on potassium. That will do it. To test this, take one finger and tap right above your browbone/eyebrow. If you blink or twitch, it can mean low potassium levels.
Try eating a few bananas a day for a while.
