What to say to a doctor that thinks you're faking pain?

I hurt my trapezeous while at work and it is being covered by workmans comp (I have pain in my shoulders, neck, and in between shoulder blades) while at work and now I've been to physical therapy, and been on pain killers and muscle relaxers that the doctor said that he didn't think that I needed to be on any more. (concerned about stomach) I still hurt a lot and it is affecting my sleep even. The doctor says I should just take tylenol and I AM taking as much tylenol as I can - it is starting to affect my stomach.I don't feel that the doctor is listening, I already am getting a second doctors opinion, but they work together in the same office. I fear that I'll just have to live with this pain and I don't feel that I can!

It doesn't hurt unless I use it, but I have to use it sometimes at work, and at home cleaning, and it sucks not being able to be as sexually active with my husband. Help me, I'm so frusterated!

can taking acidophilis while on strong antibiotics make a person more ill?

Answers:
Find a doctor, outside the practice that you are currently using, for a second opinion. If the doctor you are seeing is any good they won't mind you doing this.

How long does heroin withdrawal last?

If the "doctor" thinks you are faking it, RUN to another doctor (not one who is friends with that quack). A doctor should always listen to his patients. He can't tell you that you don't feel pain.

Intolerance to oral colonoscopy preparation?

Are you sure it is the muscle that is the problem? Have you had ex-rays done? I do agree that pain meds are not good for you but you also need relief. Maybe you should see a chiropractor. He will do ex-rays and if he is any good help you if he can. Many muscle aches can be the direct result of bulging discs or other bone misalignment. Definitely get a second opinion outside of that practice. I hope this helps you in some small way, good luck!

Thumb burn?

Run, do not walk to a differant Doctor in a differant practice and explain the situation. If you don't like what he says, keep going until you find one that is sympathetic. The first Doctor may think that you are "malingering" or drug seeking. Possibly consider asking for some sort of electronic scan of the area in question. (MRI, CT scan, whatever). Go to a local resource for books on the subject and see if you can find some mild stretches to do if you become positive that there are no serious injuries such as torn ligaments, rotator problems, inflammation, etc. Sometimes it's possible to relieve pain with a good stretching program or Yoga. (I have done this myself with a bad back and Yoga) Glucosamine which can be found at health food stores can be helpful with joint pain as well. Ask the physical therapist what would be appropriate to do on your own and then keep it up until the pain is gone.
Remember that the medical student that graduates at the very bottom of his class is still called a Doctor. (unfortunately) GOOD LUCK!

what do you know about prenatal diagnosis?

Don't take anything that is harmful to your stomach! be careful what the doctors tell you take. Some doc. Only look short term to relieve the pain. Just relax take it easy. read some books
( you should read Twight by stephenie meyer, its a great book) Get a second opinion ( that is not in the same office). Don't Stress. it could make is worse especially if you have stomach problems. Don't worry. Get a massage! I would keep going to physical therapy! I know I really good one! I give you the number if you want!

My sister had a lung transplant, is there anyone out there familiar with the effects.?

I know how you feel because this same thing happened to me a year and a half ago and the first thing to do is flat out ask your doctor to recommend/refer you to another doctor. Then If i were you I would look into getting a lawyer. The insurance company is not going to do you any favors once your doctor doesn't believe you. The insurance company (IE Workman's comp.) didn't even want to pay for some of the doctor bills. Watch you back because they will NOT. My doctor the first one was really slimy and didn't ven find that I had a bulged disk, the second doctor found that. Don't let them take advantage of you I would strongly recommend getting a lawyer, once I did they fell right in line. What helped me with the pain in massage therapy, buying a memory foam pillow (it keeps you neck better aligned while you sleep to minimize pain), A thermal massager that uses infer red heat, Asper creme (or Ben-gay if you wish but I think it smells yucky), and I noticed that the pain went considerably when I started working out on a regular basis. I only take pain killers when it gets so bad I can't stand it, mostly because your body becomes immune to it and you have to take more and more, which needless to say is bad for your liver kidneys and stomach. If you want any more tips or just want to talk to someone who has been there I'm on myspace.com (same name as here) just let me know.

what works best for you when you have a sinus headache?

The thing that sucks about your predicament is that you are at their mercy, going to a lawyer will not help you get medical treatment any faster, they are going to try every type of therapy and drug first to avoid surgery. What you need to do is contact your rep at workmans comp and keep going to their doctors until all is said and done you won't be able to file any type of lawsuit until their doctors are done with you. I injured my knee working for a large home goods store it took me a few months of needles and therapy before they opted for surgery because nothing else worked, they have to fix the issue, just be sure to stay strong and not waver.
