Is there any home cures for Bedsores?
Question:
We try changing her from the wheelchair to the couch and we have tried some topical creams on it
Answers:
Use Air donuts where the sores are to keep the pressure off of the spot.
Usually a good pharmacy or medical supply store will have them and they are generally used for people with hemorrhoids as a cushion.
These are affordable you can use them in the chair or bed or even the car.
Deflate them and take a few with you where ever you take her.
As far as the spot itself, clean the area with betadine and apply a sterile dressing.
This should help.
Other Answers:
You should get him/her professional medical advice. Bed sores aren't just something you can cure at home. The family should look into a bed that inflates and deflates at different levels that way the body is not just in one position for very long.
It depends on the weight of the patient; but turning the patient from side to side every two hours helps. It is easier to turn a thin patient than a heavy patient.

first of all, reposition the person at least every two hours and i would buy some desitin (diaper rash ointment), plus it is probably painful, so you should give tylenol or motrin, if tolerated as needed by label instructions. use pillows to prop up and rolled blankets. sponge wedges can also be bought at hospital supply stores.
it takes a long time for a bed sore to heal, plus once it does, it only heals at 75% of the skin's strength of what it was before. so it will happen again easier next time.
Get her to the doctor. They need to know it's happening, because that can set up serious infection. As if what she's already going through isn't bad enough. Call her doctor. First thing in the morning when they open. Don't just sit around waiting for an answer. This can get really bad if you don't get it under control. Get medical treatment first. They can show you how to take care of the cousin properly. Turn every two hours, move to wheelchair and other positions twice a day. apply ointment as suggested above, Change bed daily and make sure there are no wrinkles etc..
I took care of pt who had a bed sore that was on the tailbone it had to be packed everyday. it was a small golfball size hole that travled 2 and half inches up his back , on the inside. Don't let it go to long.
