What damage to the earth is coming from the use of depleted uranium in our weapons and armaments?

Question:
DU was used in the first gulf war and it's use has escalated in our recent police actions.

Answers:
Depleted uranium weapons (from vehicular cannons etc.) causes radioactive particles to sprinkle around the targets on impact and can be inhaled by local people. Curious children inspect ammo casings from these weapons. Soldiers hit by friendly fire (directly or indirectly) are often affected by "Gulf War Syndrome" where they are weakened on the cellular level by the radiation. Birth defects can be caused by this radiation. Soldiers sitting on ammo boxes may get prostate cancer without knowing where it came from. The depleted uranium is a byproduct of our nuclear powerplants. Instead of having to deal with disposing of the nuclear byproduct they hand it over to our military so that they can dispose of it with their guns. DUs are effective ammo weapons because they pierce, burn, and explode in fire all at the same time maximizing damage. Uranium is not rare, it can be found in small minute quantities in ground water and lots of it can be found in soil and rock.
Depleted uranium is not used in weapons; uranium must in fact be ENRICHED to use in weapons.
