Why is it things that are healthier for you, taste so nasty, and things that are bad for you, taste soo good?

Question:
Like for instance: Fried foods are bad for you, and raw, stemed vegetables are really great for your body. Desserts are not great for you, and boiled chicken, and dried toast. Yuk!

Answers:
boy you nailed that one good! I guess life was just made to be tough

Other Answers:
I think it is all in the way foods are cooked and prepared. A little butter, sugar and spices- in small amounts are not unhealthy and will enhance the flavor of most healthy foods.

Desserts can be healthy too.

i don't know Refined sugar and fat can make anything taste good. Refined sugar also has addictive qualities that make you crave foods with it. Vegetables are an acquired taste. If you are used to eating them, they will taste good.

it depends how much effort you put into making healthy foods taste better, after a while you will get used to the healthier alternative and wont crave fatty foods, it takes time to adjust, but you will feel much better for it.

From the dawn of time.. people always want what is prohibited.. like the "grass is always greener on the other side' and however in the course of time, we adopted certain likes due to body conditioning. If you stop putting salt on your food and stop using sugar.. you can "teach" your tongue to enjoy the bad food, by conditioning it to like the "bad food".. Corn tastes "sweet" after a time.. food is to be enjoyed in its natural state, but unfortunately, we assault our taste buds with spices.

I wonder the same thing about the WOMEN in my life!

The trick is balance and finding what you can deal with.

Compensate for eating bad by eating good the next time. Yes steamed vegetables are good for you, but they taste better with melted cheese. Diet salad dressing also spices them up.

You have to combine a sensible diet w/ exercise and you can cheat when you feel like it but not let yourself get unhealthy.

its the way life is set up, kiddo. the things that are best for you will always involve discipline, effort & usually, be the hardest thing for you to do. that's how you grow.
its also set up so that the easiest things to do will usually be the things that serve you least of all & usually, the most tempting or tasty!
