Can an eye injury effect thinking?

Question:
I had an eye injury (blackeye) and now I have moments of where I cannot remember what I was about to say or thinking and I have flashes of light occurring.

Answers:
You may have a concussion (forgetfulness) or possibly a detached retina (flashing light). You really should see a doctor right away.

How did you get the black eye?
um no not unless the pain is really bad!
If you got hit in the eye, you ABSOLUTELY need to see a doctor. You could have partially torn your retina--if not treated--it WILL cause blindness.
maybe maybe not
no unless that's all you think about, then yeah it will effect your thinking.
Well it does take a significant blow to leave a black eye.

I recommend that you talk to your GP about the problem. If he is unable to provide a satisfactory answer then perhaps an eye specialist or neurologist. There may be a possibility that the nerves related to the retina were strained or even that your brain got shook up in the impact.

I wish you well.
Brain injury is unpredictable in its consequences. Brain injury affects who we are, the way we think, act, and feel. It can change everything about us in a matter of seconds. The most important things to remember:
A person with a brain injury is a person first

No two brain injuries are exactly the same

The effects of a brain injury are complex and vary greatly from person to person

The effects of a brain injury depend on such factors as cause, location, and severity.
Vision changes (blurred vision or seeing double, not able to tolerate bright light, loss of eye movement, blindness) Therefore, eye and brain damage are related
