Painful joint on thumb?

Question: The 1st joint just above my nail on my thumb has been painful for a few days now. It doesnt hurt all the time but when I bend it sometimes there is a really sharp pain and is tender to the touch. I havent knocked it or done anything to hurt it. Has anyone else had this problem or have any ideas as to what this may be? Im 31, is that too young for arthritis?

Arthritis can affect anyone - no matter what age - it even gets children - but I doubt it's that. You've probably just bent it awkwardly whilst sleeping or without realising it.

If the pain doesn't go away after a week or so - or if it spreads elsewhere - go get a check up at your Doctors.
