Remedy for allergic reaction to latex gloves?

Question:
I recently had some routine work done on my teeth which took about an hour. That night I woke up in my sleep and felt small bumps on my face. The next morning it was bloated and you could see pronounced bumps on the cheeks, etc. where the dentist had rested her gloves. I've been using Cortaid for a few days and it's somewhat better, but I'm going on vacation and I don't want to look like a teenager with a hormone explosion. Any suggestions? (It's not a reaction to the anesthetic because I didn't have any).

Answers:
allergies to latex can be serious, causing death in many cases. it sounds to me that you are making a guess here. if you already knew you were allergic to latex, you would have informed the dentist. with that in mind, get to a doctor immediately to determine if this is a true allergic reaction to latex. antihistamines and dermatologists are great advice when you know what is causing your issues, but they can also inadvertently hide a potentially serious problem. please read the article in the link below.

Other Answers:
Seriously avoid them and get sheep's skin or another product.

Try taking an antihistimine. that is what caused the allergic reaction. If you are going on vacation in a couple of days.. try to get in to the dermatologist asap.. they can work miracles. Cold compresses and Chlor-trimeton ( an OTC antihistamine) can help, but for the future, avoidance is the best appraoch.

ALSO, get it on ALL your medical records ASAP.

I don't have a remedy, sorry, but from now on be sure and tell everyone who comes near you about your allergy.and I mean everyone.I don't know how old you are but this includes protection during sex. You think your face is bloated, trust me that would have been the least of my worries : p.. When I had the problem, it took about 5 days for everything to get back to normal. Everyone reacts differently and you probably should contact your doctor for more information.
