What can i do about constant pins and needles in index finger?
Question:
Answers:
The usual nerves going to the other three fingers are commonly involved in "carpal tunnel" injury or over use, but you coud be injured or stressing the nerve going to the index.
Circulation and/or a nerve being pinched or pushed on by soft tissue (muscle tendons, ligaments) or bone are very common in the hands & feet. We use and over use our habds and feet and if you look at the anatomy of both there is a lot of bone & soft tissue crammed into these body parts. Because hands are jam packed, even slight inflamation or lack of circulation can be felt.
Have you had an injury or unusual use of your hands? If you hand muscles are "out of shape" and you begin using them more than you used to you may have a minor injury.
Since this is constant I would see the doctor to check circulation and test for issues like diabetes and othe possible causes.
Braces and splints sometimes help -- but can also increase discomfort if not needed. I go to a chiropractic neurologist who uses manipulation and assigns exercises to strengthen and improve soft tissue and maintain proper posture and alignment. If your MD finds no problem as far as he can help you might consider asking around for a chiro in your area who is highly recommended and has studied neurology.
check with a hand doctor. You could be experiencing circulation loss in the area.
If it is due to carpal tunnel or other nerve impingement then get checked out at the doctor to determine if it structural (nerve rubbing against bone) or otherwise (nerve rubbing against tissue).
Check out the carpal tunnel info at www.hufa.org. If it is due to nerve rubbing against tissue, the tissue may be being "volumized" by a chemical/hormone imbalance that can be controlled by diet.
