My Doctor's Orders-- What Now?

Question:
Broke my middle finger - in a big splint and cast. Must keep it elevated up at face-level for 4 weeks. Feels like im giving every one I see the finger.! weird.

Answers:
Oh man. Thanks for the laugh. I say stay in the house the next 4 weeks lol but I do like the previous suggestion of writing doctor's orders on the cast itself. Pretty funny!

Other Answers:
Can you write "doctor's orders" on the cast or splint - maybe that would help things..

HA! well what are you gonna do? At least you have a cast on the finger so people *shouldn't* mis-interpret the signal! .that's funny Chalk it up to sh*t happens, i guess. Its only 4 weeks and you never know you may "flip off" someone really cool and become friends. A big cast with a protruding middle finger is definately a conversation starter.go on milk it. How many of us get to walk around flipping everyone the bird and get away with it? Enjoy it while you can.

Well just think everyone you have ever wanted to give the finger to now you can

Why do you need to keep it elevated?

That's kind of weird..I've never heard of that. Your arm is going to get really tired..

You'll just have to do what the doc says - what people think is not as important as proper heeling of your finger. Everyone ( most will be your friends, co-workers, family anyway) probably will think it's cute or funny, and obviously necessary. Be careful. It's surprising what it can interfere with, like some things may have to be done with your other hand - think about it. I had same problem with my forefinger. Was stirring spagetti, the tip hit the boiling water; another time lit a match with that hand and set the gauze on fire. Yours soon will be just a (funny?) memory. You could always try putting a big sock or something over your whole hand...

Well you can have some fun with it or if you are really that uncomfortable with the perception of flipping everyone off maybe but an oven mit or wash mit over your hand or a beanie. Something that your are comfortable with.
