If i had an Injury to my tailbone (coccyx) because of a fall, how long will it take to recover?

Question:
I Fell on my coccyx yesterday and injured it, its not that bad bt it hurts, and i can walk 90% fine, i can´t run,(well, i haven´t tried), i´m gonna be traveling next week and i need to be able to walk long time and long distances, how much time will it take to recover? what pain killer should I take? Will it bother me a lot if i walk a lot and stand for a long time?

Answers:
It usually takes a few weeks for an injury like this to get better. Avoid sitting down for long periods of time. When seated, sit on hard surfaces and alternate sitting on each side of the buttocks. Also, lean forward and direct your weight away from the tailbone.
Apply ice to the tailbone area for 15-20 minutes, 4 times a day, for the first few days after the injury. You can also use Advil for the pain. If Advil doesn't work for the pain, then you will have to contact your doctor to get something stronger. You can purchase a doughnut cushion or pillow to sit on. Make sure you eat foods high in fiber to avoid constipation while the area is healing.

Other Answers:
It prolly will never heal, i fell and injured my tail bone almost 2 years ago, I still cannot sit on hard surfaces for more than a few minutes without pain.

You just have to avoid anyting that causes you problems with it.

Depends on if you fractured it or not. If it's just a bruise, you should be fine. However, a bruise doesn't normally interfere with walking/running etc. (just sitting). I'd say you are looking at least a month to recover.

Your traveling is going to be.uncomfortable. Best thing to do is see your doctor, explain the situation and ask for something a little stronger than aspirin.

Put ice on it now. Do some low back stretches. Do lots of stretching. Knee squats and kegel exercises. You might go see a massage therapist or chiropractor. It may hurt for as long as six weeks. Long car rides will agravate it. Ibprophen is the best for muscle aches.
