Can cracking your knuckles give you arthritis?

Question:

Answers:
No, you're going to get arthritis whether you crack you knuckles or not.

That is - if you are going to get arthritis - you may be one of those really lucky people who grow old, and never suffer from arthritis.

My uncle has cracked his knuckles all his life - in fact, he showed me how to crack 28 knuckles. Before, I thought you could maybe crack 5.

He has arthritis -- in his knees. But, his hands are as healthy as a 25 year old.. (He's older than 25 - he's probably 65, maybe older - he's my uncle, its not polite to ask.)

Other Answers:
No
yes it can
no, that's an urban legend
No, I heard that's an old wives' tale.
I don't think it will give you arthritis but it will cause pain and joint problems when you become older.
no
No, that is just an old wives tale. Doing it too much can eventually mess up the fluid in the spaces of your finger's joints.
Doing it every now and then, however, helps keep the fluid more spread out and even.
yes it can my mom is a registered nurse and said it to me maney times
Big time YES !! What you're doing is a temporary dislocation of the joints. Eventually you'll create problems with the cartlidge - which will lead to arthritis.
No that wont give you arthritis' the crackling noise is air pockets in between the joints poping' people say that cause it bugs them.
No. When you crack your knuckles you are relieving pressure in the joint. Joints are made to do that.
