Neck surgery?

I had neck surgery in August. I had 2 ruptured disks,c5 and c6. They fused c5,6,7 together. How long does this take to completely heal or am i going to be in pain forever?

How to fix a sore back?

I did work as first assist for 3 years with a spine surgeon. If you had a two level fusion done, from the front, they will often use bone graft to insert where the bad disc was removed. The best bone is your own. Then cadaver grafts can be used. Your own body will heal these in place. It means wearing a brace to minimize motion of the bone as it heals. Often, a metal plate with screws will be placed over the 3 vertabrae, to hold it still as it heals. There is a 10% per level chance of non-union, that is not healing together. Much worse in patients who continue to smoke. If you are still having pain, I would look for a non-union. If all your pain is in your neck, then you might be having arthritis pain, at levels above or below the fused segments. This neck surgery is good for those with nerve pain, that's to the arms, not too good for neck pain alone.

witchy woman, do not listen to any advise about what exercises are safe from the general public on yahoo answers, you need to listen to your doctor or physical thera pist only, people on this site have advised others to drink bleach, I am serious this is not safe and your body and wellbeing are all you have and the only ones you are getting in this life time it is dangerous to ask questions like this from a non licensed non medical community at least ask if there are any doctors or physical therapists and ask them to answer your question if you must risk your health in this manner
