Has anyone ever had an internal bleed in there forearm?

Question:
I have a swollen left forearm. No bites anywhere or cuts. It is just swelling and it hurts. Doc thinks it is an internal bleed. Asked me about numbness in my hand. I do have numbness, but I am not sure if it is from this or the neck injury I have had for years. Numbness come and goes in both hands.

He told me not to take anything with asprin only tylennol and to put warm compresses on it. He did say he didn't think there was a clot. (I wish he hadn't said that as it is my left arm) Do you know what the symptoms of a clot are? Any clues out there? It is still swollen and it is now about 8 days and counting.

Answers:
You have internal bleeding whenever you have a bruise!

Numbness in both hands is commonly caused by carpal tunnel sydrome, although with a neck injury, that could certainly be a cause as well.

If you had a clot you'd probably know it right away. it would be EXTREMELY painful, and much of the tissue "downstream" or "upstream" of the spot would be much more pale (due to the lack of blood, or reduced amount at least).

The tylenol/aspirin would thin your blood and cause the bleeding to intensify, so in that respect you may also want to avoid alcohol as much as possible as well until the swelling goes down.

Bruises may take a week or so to go away, so a moderate internal bleed may take a few. I would actually be surprised if you were back to normal in 8 days!

here is an idea GO TO THE DOCTOR!

Get a second doctor's medical opinion as soon as possible. Allergy? Will soaking it do any good? It is possible to have an internal bleed any where in your body due to blood runs all through your body .Clots usually have pain ,swelling ,and skin is warm above the swollen area and could be cold w/ a bluish tint below the swollen area.Aspirin is a blood thinner and will cause more bleeding as will Ginko bilboba. If it's been 8 days without a change I would check back with my Doctor.
