will a person die if he/she drinks a dextrose which patients use in hospitals?
Question:
Answers:
The question is not very specific - however, here goes - "dextrose" is sugar water. The percentage of "sugar" versus "water" is usually listed on the container. Normally, it is 5% (the type that is used in hospitals). That means that the water is saturated with sugar (up to 5% of the mixture being sugar). That is not a huge amount of sugar. However, there is always someone, with certain types of diseases (i.e. diabetes) that can be affected by "dextrose" in a "bad" way. Therefore, my answer would be, "yes" certain persons could "die if he/she drinks "dextrose" which patients use in hospitals"! But that answer could depend on lots of variables!!

I would doubt it. Dextrose is a type of sugar. It would be a nasty thing to be drinking though. Why would you want to?
Your blood sugar levels would increase dramatically causing you to have a lot of energy and then a major drop in energy once it wears off but it wouldn't cause you to die unless you are a diabetic. If the person is glucose intolerant or has diabetes, it could make them very sick.
Dextrose is just suagr and water available in 5% and 10% solutions so it really shouldn't cause death provided no other meidicines are mixed into it.
