Do you have sleep apnia? Snore? Bite tongue?

Question:
I do not have any idea if they are connected, but would like to know. I have all the above. I really would love to know if anyone has found a solution of any of the above -- yes, I do have a great dentist, but I want popular opinion -- please!

Answers:
Sleep Apnea and snoring are related. If you have Apnea more than likely you snore. Not necessarily the reverse.

Biting the tough, I do not think is related to the other two. Do you grind your teeth in addition to biting your tongue? If so this could be because of stress. Are you under stress of any kind?

Apnea can only be diagnosed via a sleep study. Your doctor can give you details. One long term complication of apnea is heart problems..I am sure there are others. There are many short term problems it can cause.

See your doctor.

yes yes and no

used to have sleep apnea, but it stopped when i lost some weight. Still snore depending on my position, never bit my tongue at night though. You may want to take oatstraw or Astragalus tea. This may not mix with medicine. Take your time cause it can be cleansing to take for a calming effect.

Sleep apnea can be a very serious condition, since the person stops breathing several hundred times per night, as you know, if you are living with someone that has it. Eventually the brain tires of transmitting to the body to start breathing again, and again and again, and stops transmitting. A sleep study needs to be done to find out if this is the cause of the problem, and generally a C-pap machine is recommended, it is a machine that blows air down the throat and keeps the airway open. I can't stress enough how serious this condition is. My husband had it, a girlfriend of mine has it, and another friends nephew died from it.
Good luck. See a doctor very soon. I was diagnosed and was given a CPAP machine to keep my airways open. Since using it, I am not tired during the day because I have a great nights' sleep.

Another plus: I have dreams. Dreaming is great. It means you've entered REM stage. My dreams are like movies every night. In fact, I hear them in surround sound and at the end the credits even roll up!

I've learned from my doctor that people who snore are 4times MORE likely to suffer heart attacks and strokes because of the stress and lack of oxygen on the body.

Don't delay. Call a sleep specialist first thing tomorrow morning.
