Research has recently shown that we need less sleep than we thought, between 6-7 hours a night usually. The average time we Brits like to spend asleep is 7.75 hours a night.
However, Jim Horne from Loughborough University Sleep Research Centre puts it best: "The amount of sleep we require is what we need not to be sleepy in the daytime."
