I tried them twice-I had really bad nightmares. I think from the excess of nicotine in my body at night, when normally I would not smoke. Anyway-the gum worked better for me-and it worked. 5yrs. and 2 months Does it still bother me? yup. Do I still crave? yup. But the cravings only last a few minutes. Good Luck..

Everything that is used to stop smoking should work as long as you use them correctly. Just like losing weight you do the one that fits yourself personally.
I know some people who tried to use the nictoine patches and it worked and some that used it and it didn't.
Nicotine patches, which are available under several brand names, are designed to help you quit smoking by reducing your craving for tobacco. Each adhesive patch contains a specific amount of nicotine embedded in a pad or gel.

Nicotine, the habit-forming ingredient in tobacco, is a stimulant and a mood lifter. When you give up smoking, lack of nicotine makes you crave cigarettes and may also cause anger, anxiety, concentration problems, irritability, frustration, or restlessness.

When you wear a nicotine patch, a specific amount of nicotine steadily travels out of the patch, through your skin, and into your bloodstream, keeping a constant low level of nicotine in your body. Although the resulting level of nicotine is less than you would get from smoking, it may be enough to keep you from craving cigarettes or experiencing other withdrawal symptoms.

Habitrol patches are round and come in three strengths: 21, 14, or 7 milligrams of nicotine per patch. You wear a Habitrol patch 24 hours a day.

NicoDerm CQ patches are rectangular and come in three strengths: 21, 14, or 7 milligrams of nicotine per patch. You wear a NicoDerm CQ patch 24 hours a day.

Nicotrol patches are rectangular and deliver 15 milligrams of nicotine per patch. You put on a Nicotrol patch in the morning, wear it all day, and remove it at bedtime. You do not use it when you sleep. Nicotrol is available over-the-counter.
To me they might curb your craving a little, but I had no success with them. Also My brother tried them and actually quit (for awhile, about 6 months)But got addicted to the patch and had to see a doctor to get off of them.I mean it was like a SERIOUS addiction.Good Luck on quiting!♥
Why not visit a hospital and ask if there are any people with smoking related illnesses who would be prepared to talk to your about their experiences.

I spent a few days in a hospital bed next to a guy with lung cancer. His heart had problems, they were trying to get rods into him to expand his chest cavity, couldn't get them to fit right and the doctors wouldn't risk a general anesthetic again because of his poor health. He gave up smoking three years ago, but had smoked for about 50. He wasn't going to be cured, the staff were just going to try make him comfortable for the next year or so. He was a nice man who kept in good spirits.
i have the gum, and it doesnt work with me. it all comes down to your own will power and the patches are ideally there to reduce cravings, but with most people, social situations are the hard part, so it all comes down to strictness with your self. i am currently 3 weeks and 3 days. without the use of gum or patches, i eat regular and go to gym, so i dont pack on the pounds, as most people do when they first give up.

good luck with it.its great when you quit. your senses come back, everything tastes better. smell some coffee beans after two weeks, and you'll realise the difference.
