Will long term daily use of Noproxen sodium tablets (Aleve) cause health problems?

Question:
The product works very well on pain in my knees caused by once thinking I was a football player. I'm concerned that short term benifits may lead to kidney and other problem later in life.

Answers:
Your first answer is correct. Also Naproxen Sodium (Aleve) is only made to be taken every 12 hours. This is not like Ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil) or Tyelnol (Acetaminophen), but a totally different drug, but in the same class of non steriodal anti-inflammatory. It can also be toxic to your liver in large amounts, just like Ibuprofen and Tylenol. Be very careful with this. If the amount you need exceeds what the normal doseage as stated on the label, then you need to see a doctor.

Other Answers:
Naproxen sodium can contribute to stomach and esophageal ulcers because of its chemical make up; if taken with food, however, you can reduce these risks considerably.

if you used it every day for your whole life it could shutdown your kidneys, but it would take a lot of it to do that, its safer than tylenol or other drugs. Probably not as long as you have no blood pressure issues. Ibuprofen is better at getting rid of inflamation, and for me, works better for pain relief. 800 mg 2-3 times per day does the trick, but .. if you have any liver problems, if you are taking any statins for choloresterol, have liver enzymes tested every other month. Good luck
