OUCH, OUCH, OUCH! I had one of those after my honeymoon. Here's what I felt like:
-Felt like I had to urinate every 5 minutes but only a dribble would come out.
-The dribble burned like heck.
-When I took a shower it hurt when the water hit my back.
-tired
-fever (probably)
-just feeling rotten all the way around.

This is all I can remember. It was 5 years ago since I experienced this. I just remember it wasn't very fun. My groom took me to the emergency room when taking a shower brought tears to my eyes. The doc gave me some kind of pills to nutralize the urine so it wouldn't sting, and antibiotics for the infection, and I think anti-inflamatories, but I am not sure on that one. He also told me to eat blueberries. They used to reccommend cranberry juice, but they now consider that to be too acidic. Good luck with that.

Pain on your side or lower back. Pain when you pee, it the infection is really really bad then there will be blood in your pee.

I have had many many kidney infections and kidney stones

it starts, usually, as a urinary tract infection. it hurts to pee, (or it might not) you drink lots of water. then as the infection works its way up you get abdominal cramps, especially after eating. bad back pain. when left untreated, the pain gets intolerable along your abdomen. you can get a fever as your body tries to fight it off. believe me, i had one and didn't know it. i couldn't stand up and had to go to the emergency room.
to treat it you MUST go to the doctor or you risk permanent damage to your kidney. they give you an antibiotic. once you get one, you could get them rather frequently and easily. drink water and take cranberry pills (i think the pills might be less acidic? plus, there is no sugar as there is in juice. sugar make it worse.) to prevent it in the future.
i know i'm sounding like a mom. but i had them a lot a few years back and it is no fun. hope you or whoever has it gets well soon. :)
