Do calf stretches before walking. It states that you may want to reduce your mileage or substitute non-weight bearing activities such as swimming. Do not walk uphill. If the pain is severe stop walking all together. Place cold packs on the injured area for 15-20 minutes up to three to four times day to reduce the inflammation and pain. When you return to walking keep the foot in a neutral position by sticking to flat surfaces, gradually increasing your distance and intensity.
