I think your mom had a sense of humor. My mothers biggest fear was I'd go to spend the night at a friends with a dirty pillowcase and pyjamas. There is some truth in mother's warnings, my friends little brother nearly cut his tongue off running with scissors.

It is just funny.

i got a smack for crying .! it just made me cry more .. then asked "Do you want another smack " ..!! ( well im not going to say yes am i ). lol yea there r some funny sayings,as i mum my self i do say the strangest things lol

The simplicity and satisfaction of the joke! Every small child complains when it is said too - funny, they just don't get it!

Because she loves her child, it's her way of warning the child of dangers and stay safe.

just a way of telling to be careful. i do it all the time to my kid what she supposed to say "dont drag yourself to me when you fall over"

mums are so funny! but why do they say everything in syllabulls as they smack you?? do-you-want-a-reason-to-cry!. lol

cause they always come back crying

cause its a normal kiddie thing to try wen u cant-to run with a broken leg. well think of it this way, you are told not put you hand in fire and you do? what`s going to happen after you burned your hand aren`t you going to run to the same person who told you not to.. i guess they mean "i told you so"
