How long does it take for aspirin to (temporarily) thin blood?

Question:

Is the effect almost immediate or do you have to be taking it for a while? I'm asking because my little sis has been taking it for two days for a headache (she's had 6 aspirins) and she seems to be bruising and not knowing why or how. Is this common? I thought aspirin only caused bruising with Long-term preventative therapy?
