How can you tell the difference between a pull and a tear?

Question:
A week ago, I was playing baseball on an uneven field with holes and tire tracks. I was running to a base and stepped in one unexpectedly, jerking me forward. My leg (just above the knee) has been hurting me since. I have a hard time moving my leg side to side and up and down. It throbs and it's difficult to stand without feeling like it's going to give out on me or without feeling nauseous. I've tried Advil and Aspercreme but it hasnt helped much. I'm losing sleep and normal activities over it. Is it a pull or a tear?

Answers:
pulls generally knot up while tears tend to knot up and bleed under the skin, turning into a very nasty and obvioud bruise. It takes a tear much longer to heal and more stretching to loosen it up before strenuous exercise.

Other Answers:
See an M.D.only they can tell you for sure.
You may have torn some ligaments or there may be some serious injury. get an X-ray done or visit a doctor as soon as possible. The more you delay, the more problem it will be to treat it and cure.
