Could anyone tell me if they know farts to be unhygienic?

For example; if you were to fart on a sore or open wound would it be more likely to become infected?

I cannot answer this question drawing on any medical knowledge but my husband has been farting on various parts of me in bed now for the last 15 years and I have suffered no ill effects.

A fart or flatulence is just an expulsion of gas from the lower bowel, although the odour is not pleasant, it cannot cause infection of wounds. Unwashed hands are more contaminated with bacteria, hence they can cause infection to exposed wounds. the gaseous component of a fart is relatively harmless in the small quantities it is produced in. however, all the 'bowel splatter' that accompanies them would be a good source of infection.

Now, to be serious, Is fecal matter "hygienic"? "No!" You say. Well, in most cases the aroma associated with "farts" is fecal matter carried in methane gas. Methane is an odor so what you smell is the poo (as my kids call it).

Cabbage head, like you'd position your hiney to someone's wound and expel..noxcious gasses? I hope your momma's not reading this. I do not know exactly the answer to that but I can tell you about farts and maybe you can decide for yourself.

The reason we smell stuff is because of the hairs in our nose. They collect actually particles in the air and process them. I will call them "sensors" for the sake of discussion. These sensors absorb the particles thus creating a smell. Kinda of the same thing happens with your tongue but instead of smell it produces taste.

When you smell a fart you are actually smelling particles from the fart. (Stuff from the bowels- like poo) In some small form you are absorbing part of their fart each time you smell it, Disgusting, isn't it?
That being said, farts are actually minuscule pieces of poo that are too tiny to see, so what do you think? Is it unhygienic?

I hear that Saddam had been collecting farts [only sunni] to use as weapons of mass destruction.They appaently act in a silent but deadly way.It might just be a rumour but If you happen to be in Bahgdad,keep your open wounds covered up just in case.

i would say that their not unhygenic as its just the release from gas from our bowles
