Answers:
Is her Dr. a G.I. Specialist? If not, I would be concerned that this is not the correct diagnosis. If he/she is a G.I. specialist, I would get a second opinion. Stress is a big factor for this illness so she needs to make sure she is able to get plenty of rest, exercise, etc. It usually acts up when things are really overwhelming and you aren't taking care of yourself. There are different types of medications that work for different people but the Dr. should be trying out different doses and if that doesn't work, different medications. She does not have to suffer. Also, different foods she should be careful of such as popcorn, peanuts, etc. Some people have to go on a bland diet initially then gradually introduce different foods to see if it causes problems. Check to see if your local hospital(s) have support groups or if they know of some in the area. They can be a big help and provide a lot of info on who is the best Dr. locally, what has worked for them, etc.
