Is tea/coffee healthy when taken with milk?

Question:
I've read so many times about the benefits of tea but i'm confused. Are all these benefits only there if tea is consumed simply by brewing in water or is it ok to add milk?
Also can jaggery be added & still retain its benefits?

Answers:
Tea has been said to be good for the body with it's antioxidant benefits. You can add milk or cream to it and it doesn't take away these benefits. It will add a few more calories to it though. I like adding half and half to my tea sometimes. Tai tea calls for sweetened condensed milk and plenty or sugar. Jaggery, which I had to look up (unrefined Indian sugar).I imagine can be added. I don't know what it tastes like though.but again it wouldn't affect the antioxidant benefits of the tea either. Consider squeezing some lemon juice in it as well, without the milk of course, or it will curdle.

Other Answers:
It really shouldn't do any harm by adding milk.
there's nothing wrong with adding milk to coffee or tea, but I would suggest going with low fat or skim milk over whole milk or cream which has a lot of fat in it.
The caffeine in coffee isn't good, but tea is good for you, with or without milk / jaggery.
adding milk to tea sometimes cause acidity in stomach but it depends on individuals.
I don`t know about jaggery.I don`t know what is jaggery,to be honest with you,but as far as milk is concerned I think that is a necessity with coffe, especially in winter time, and tea is just fine without it as long as you know how to enjoy it..For example escorted with a nice plain old ciggie.
i do know that tea without any accompaniment is great for your teeth, even has low amounts of fluoride in it
It is still okay with milk. What the heck is jaggery?
it should not do anything to it.i'm sure it's just a concerning of your body.
No. i don't think so. Cause it doesn't matter how many other stuff you add with Tea/Coffee you still consume it and your body still digest them and contains Coffiene and other things.
YES it is healthy to take tea / coffee with milk.
T
Milk should not have any effect to your tea.

Yes, it's all good for you and healthy too.
I have found it's best to stay away from all caffeine. Milk or anything else does not make it safer. Caffeine is not good for your body.

There are a lot of yummy decaf. teas out there and you add honey and milk if you want.
no harm, be sure.
It is only a question of taste and there is no health issue in it.
i myself drink tea with milk (whole or 2 % ). i find that it tastes smoother than tea tastes alone. i dont know how beneficial the tea with milk is for you. i mean, milk has Calcium and sometimes vitamin D but vitamins usually die in high temperatures. yet, the tea that u drink is not hot enough to destroy that vitamin .
To be honest, unless you're growing tea in your back yard for brewing, nothng you consume from the supermarket has very many health benefits. Nothing to scream about, anyways.

I brew my chai tea in milk and add sugar, and it tastes wonderful.
Oh my God no! Don't do it! It's like mixing Coca-cola and pop rocks! You've been warned.

My OBGYN tells me to always drink some kind of milk product with my coffee; whether it be cream, whole, 2%, 1%, non-fat. I don't remember her saying anything about powdered creamer though but you can go to www.webmd.com and ask one of their oncall/online OBGYN's.
She tells me that when women [ONLY] drink coffee it not only dries out their bones making them very brittle, thereby increasing their risk for Ostioperosis, but it is a big no no for the girls [your boobies, hooters, breasts, who who's, taa taa's, whatever you want to call them]. Hope this help you.
