Chlorine Inhilation?

Question:
I accidentally mixed chlorine bleach with another cleaner and inhaled the fumes. My throat is sore for the past two days. Is this a typical symptom of the chlorine inhilation and will it pass with time?

Answers:
What you did is burn your lungs with the strong chemical reaction and just to be on the safe side I would talk to your family doctor. Just go outside often and get fresh air it should pass, but like you said it's been there for two days i would check with a doctor just to be on the safe side. Are you able to email your doctor and communicate via email? Good luck and please keep me informed and hope you are OK.

Other Answers:
You can get something called chemical pneumonia from breathing chlorine fumes. The chlorine gas when it mixes with the moisture in your lungs creates hydrochloric acid and causes your lungs to secrete fluid, thus causing the pneumonia. I am talking a pretty severe exposure here. The sore throat is from a mild acid exposure and should pass. If you start coughing alot, I would go to a medical doctor and tell them what happened.

Did you get high off of it? Just wondering. you should go to the hospital and get a shot of good oxygen, it will pass in time but should check with doc.

its fine

Go to your doctor and make sure you haven't damaged the lining of your throat or lungs. It would be irresponsible for me to tell you anything else. Good luck.

You've inhaled chloramine gas, it's irritating, but the effects will pass in a few days. try throat lozenges and avoid unecessary talking for a few days.

No updates, so I presume you're Ok.
