If bruises are just bleeding under the skin, why are they sometimes yellow?
Question:
Answers:
The yellow colour is just the leaked blood being broked down and reabsorbed by the body.
When you get a bruise the following happens:
Over the course of a day, blood seeps into the surrounding tissue while the capillaries are being repaired. The bruise gradually darkens. Over the course of a week or two, the bruise darkens to a livid red, then fades to purple, black, or blue, eventually fading to yellow and disappearing as healing progresses. Normal, light bruises heal completely in a week or two; more severe or deeper bruises may take longer. The striking colors of a bruise are due to hemoglobin and its breakdown products, bilirubin and biliverdin.
yellow color may be due to
only serous exudation
or due to pus collection
red is due to
bleeding
brown indicates healing
Platelets gather to act as a plug to stop the bleeding from the blood vessels. They are transported in serum which gives it a yellow appearance.
Bruises are when the tiny blood vessels under the skin are damaged and bleed out a little.
Why they change colour isjust the process of fading. When you're first 'hit' they are a red mark (fresh blood).
They then turn blue / black. This is because the blood is de-oxygenating and dying off. The yellowness comes in tha last 'stage' before the bruise is gone, it's just whatever hasn't ben flushed away yet since the damage healed.
That would be 'pus'. It's just a build up of lymphatic tissue (living and dead white blood cells), dead bacteria, dead red blood cells, blood plasma that has seeped out of the capillaries in response to the inflammatory agents being released by white blood cells, as well as the contents of cells that have broken open. The fluid that combines together is often yellowish.
when we bruise it is caused by small bursts in blood cells, depending on how hard we have banged oursselves determins the darkenest of the bruise ie red, purple. when a briuse heals it heals by this escaped blood reenter our blood cells hence why sometimes a briuse will appear as yellow,
It's the dead blood cells being broken down into other chemicals by the body. The blood goes yellow because of chemical reactions - like how when you cut yourself the blood is red but the stain dries brown or black, there has been a chemical reaction of some sort.
Your blood is dirty. lol
Bruises change color over time as they heal - from red to purple to blue to green to yellow.
Just part of the healing process.
