if you want to look at it scientifically it is becuase the unsymetrical elements fo a face. in theory the most beautiful face would be completely symmetrical and all of there features would be 1/3 apart and 1/3 of each other when cut in sections. the more a face does not fit with this sum , the more the human eye will find it unnatractive.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.if you are talking about looks. If it is character or attitude then it is contributed to there upbringing or their mood for the day.

i guessing your talking about physical qualities. i've been interested in this for as long as i can remember. even as a child i look analitically and say to myself what makes this person look beautyfull, why does that person look ugly.. i still hav'nt come up with much. a millimeter here or there between the eye or shape of the lips can make all the diffrence.. a lot has to do with perspective of the viewer. if someone looks like you or your family or your race.. you may tend to be more appealing to YOUR eye. anyway once you get to know someone you find beauty comes from within, attitude personallity can change the whole way you see someone. that said , "beauty is skin deap, but ugly is to the bone! lol

of course when you first meet someone you don't know their personality so ugly is in the eyes of the beholder. Once the introduction is over then I'd say the personality of one can determine ugliness.

All people are beautiful in some form or another, that is the way God created them.

But there are several things that make a person is ugly.

When they look down on other people who are not of their caliber or social status. And they make the other person feel like trash because they are less fortunate

Rude language

Poking fun at a person who has a disability or deformity

The retardation in the eyes of the person viewing them.

The only thing that makes a person "ugly" is such opinion of other people (or themselves).
Beauty is a cultural consensus. In Baroque, beautiful women had to be REALLY fat, with totally white skin. Today that's ugly and we like really thin tanned skeletons. So ugliness is just a fictitious opinion. If somebody thinks something is ugly, that's true for him/her, to somebody else it might be beautiful!
