i sprained my knee 7 days ago and it seems like it getting better but how do i know if my ligament is torn?

A torn ligament can be identified by a doctor using the exams as you see in the link below. In addition to the examinations mentioned above, the doctor may also press gently over your kneecap to feel for fluid in the joint, especially if the injured knee is not severely swollen. Other tests to help with diagnosis may include an X-ray (to rule out a broken bone) and MRI scan.
It may just be a sprain, but i'm no doctor, if only there was someone out there that knew about injuries, maybe "studied medicine" or something like that...sorry i'm stumped
