I have a splinter that is deep for a few months now, but I just noticed it is a splinter. What should I do?

Question:
There is like a blister around the splinter and I can see a brown spot that looks almost like a scab. I think this is a splinter. What should I do? I am guessing see a doctor. What do you think?

Answers:
I wouldn't advise you to take out the splinter yourself because it sounds like it is already infected. You don't want to introduce more bacteria into your body. See a doctor it can be fixed fairly easily.

Other Answers:
eww but you should maybe go see a doctor if its that bad

See a doctor, you could get an infection. If it is a splinter, they should be able to take it out easily with minimal pain. Hope everything's ok! take a single edge razor blade & cut it out, be your own surgeon

Burn the end of a sewing needle to sterilize it, dip it in alcohol, pick out the splinter, clean area with alcohol. If you don't want to do this see your doctor. I have done this many times.

Put an onion on it. It brings it to the surface therefore, making it easier to get out.or go see a doctor! up to you.

Get tweezers and a sewing needle and GET IT OUT! Clean it good with alcohol. If you soak the affected part in warm water your skin will soften and it will come out easier. try to pop the blister, then soak it in hot soapy water for a few minutes. see if it comes out

A splinter is a foreign body needs to be remove..it might cause infection . You can just go to your doctor and tell him to remove it for you.

my self

usually a splinter will eventually work it;s way up through the skin until it works it;s way to the top and out. If it's closed over, I wouldn't worry about it; if the blister is soft and able to pop, your risk of infection is higher and you should have it removed. Either your MD or dermatoloist should be able to do it right in the office.

probably to lat for you but a simple old wives solution is put vaseline heavily on the are and cover it with a bandage over night the vas will draw the splinter out. this does work
