does milk really help strengthen bones?

Question:
I heard somewhere that milk doesn't really help strengthen bones, and maybe even weaken them, Is that true?

Answers:
Milk is an excellent source of Calcium for increasing bone mass, particularly if it has vitamin D added.

My recommendation to my female patients is that beginning in their teens they get 1000 mg of calcium daily from all sources (figure out what is coming from the diet and then supplement up to that level), and that after menopause they increase that amount to 1500 mg daily.

Aloha
no milk is great for building strong bones
