Has anyone had Spinal Disc Replacement (Not Fusion)?

Question: Hubby's last disc in is back is completely damaged and basically non existant. He refuses fusion and wants the disc replaced which has been approved recently. Has anyone else done this? If so, on a percentage scale how well are you back to your normal self before the damage? Any information would be helpful. Or any advice to help him get thru this.

my problem was not quite the same but it should give you some insight in what they can do. I broke my neck and the crushed bone impacted the cord causing nerve damage , loss of feeling in my hands and feet. They
replaced the bone and put in a small metal plate.
I had problems for about six months as the nerve damage gave false pain signals as things healed. Now im back to normal except for numbness in the pad of one thumb.
