Retiring is when you can stop working and put your feet up knowing that your working life is done. However, thanks to this government many people may not have the luxury of doing this as the retirement age seems destined to go up, meaning more people will die before they get the chance to do this.

I'm told the trick is to keep working at something - be it pruning the roses or starting a group making Christmas cards with the mentally ill... it's giving up that makes people peg it early and not enjoy their time off!

Life should be fun whether you work or not and living should be actively persued your whole life long; I think it would be difficult to start doing something only once you retire.
Having MORE time to do the things you enjoy most once you retire sounds a good plan but to have spent your whole working life waiting to retire to enjoy life sounds very sad to me.
