Hello! How can I control Uric Acid in my blood?
Question:
Thanks for advice and suggestions.
Answers:
Non-kosher foods, such as pork, crab, and shellfish, tend to raise uric acid levels. Red meats tend to raise levels as well, though not as much. Chicken, turkey, and fish tend to have less of a negative effect on it. Saturated fats are your enemy; that's what does it.
Eating more fruits and vegetables generally lowers acid levels, along with blood pressure, risk of diabetes, weight, and lots of other important things. But specifically for lowering uric acid, strawberries, cherries, and 100% cherry juice (no added sugar or other juice!) lower the acid levels. Other berries may have similar properties, and they certainly won't be bad for your uric acid level.
Exercising is another important way of keeping acid levels low. It causes your body to use the acid, proteins, sugars, and such that you eat, so less of it is available in your bloodstream to make havoc.
It's important to keep uric acid levels in appropriate range, because gout attacks are when it gets too high, and the acid begins to crystallize in needle-like formations in your joints, typically in a toe or ankle. It can make it excruciatingly painful to drive a car, or even hobble from the bedroom to the bathroom, for a few days. And the drugs to clear it up after the gout attack happens, can be pretty hard on your system. So it's important to do whatever you have to do, through diet or medication, to keep your levels in the good range in the first place.
If you really want to manage it without drugs, talk with your doctor about how to do it, and how often you should be monitored. See a nutritionist or dietician, and get some help with meal planning. They'll help you figure out a healthy diet based on foods you like, so that you'll stick to it better. My husband controls his uric acid levels through diet alone, by working with his doctor and nutritionist, and is monitored twice a year to be sure it's working efficiently.
Other Answers:
You could stop eating alot of meat, alot of excess can be explained through diet. However, this can develope into a more serious issue like gouty arthritis or kidney stones. Forget about home remedies, go talk to a medical professional for real solutions.
Stay away from food that contain uric acid like:
hearts
herring
mussels
yeast
smelt
sardines
sweetbreads
As for home remedies,it is best to consult experts.
