Help! My daughter has horrible eczema and nothing seems to help!?

Question:
My daughter is 6 1/2 years old and has had eczema for over 2 years. Nothing the doctor has prescribed her has worked. Looking for some suggestions. THANKS!

Answers:
My mother also has horrible eczema, when she was first diagnosed, about 25 years ago, she used cortisone to heal her skin, but now she doesn't use anything to help it but she does stay away from the things that exacerbate it. She only uses Ivory soap, everything else breaks her out, she only uses Vaseline Intensive Care lotion in the yellow bottle, she always wears gloves to cover her hands if she's ever touching anything resembling Dawn dish soap, and she never uses anything with aloe vera, because she gets giant blisters on her hands. I'm sure your daughter has very severe allergies to certain things like my mother does, try to find out what those are and keep her away from them.
Well when I was younger (about 15 years ago) I would use Goat Soap, helped a little bit. Luckily, I grew out of my eczema.

I hope you find a solution
Has you tried prescription ointments like Elavil or Protopic? Both work remarkably well for Exzema. If the symptoms are very severe, she may need oral corticosteroid therapy. Maybe it is time to refer to an allergist or dermatologist.
