Why does your nose get stuffy when you cry?

Question:
It's a question my daughter always wonders, why does my nose get stuffed up when I cry

Answers:
Blame your tear ducts. Toxins are released in tears when you cry, and your sinuses and eustachian tubes try to drain them away. Because of the toxins the nasal tissues are irritated and swell, making it hard to flush out the tears and mucus.

Wanna clear it up? Eat a jalapeno, that'll get things running.

Other Answers:
dont know
to prevent things from going in..plus to also get rid of the histamine that builds up when you cry
It is draining into you sinuses. It sucks doesn't it.
Snot overload. Hahaha
Seriously.I don't know. I've often wondered the same thing.
Your tearducts drain into your nasal cavity. Where they drip out causing a stuffy nose.
When you cry, tears come out of the tear glands under your eyelids and drain through the tear ducts that empty into your nose. Tears mix with mucus there and your nose runs.
