Can't control anemia. How much more?

Question:
I was originally put on 16mg of ferrous sulfate. I have no problems taking it. Dose was slowly increased over time to a total of 195mg. Each time the dose was increased, the symptoms went away for a while. After a few weeks or months, they come back. Extreme fatigue and RLS. I don't know what to to. How much more can the docotr do? What's the maximum theraputic dosage?

Oh, the cause is unknown. No excessive bleeding. No problems with B-12, folic acid, not hereditary, etc.

Answers:
if it is iron defincency anemia you aren't taking enough iron...you should be taking 325mg twice a day
Not to sound morbid, but have you been tested for cancer, specifically leukemia??

Or have you had a bone marrow biopsy? Your bone marrow is what makes your red blood cells, etc, maybe you have a problem with it.

Good Luck!
It may not be iron deficiency anemia.
