shoulder surgery, rehab?

Question:
Back in October I seperated my shoulder playing soccer (a GK at my university). I loosened the ligaments in my shoulder, tore my labrum (cartiledge), and tore my rotator cuff slightly. I'm scheduled for surgery soon and I'd like to know how long I should expect it to take before I'm back at 100% and doing pull-ups again. The doc said he'll be tightening the ligaments and repairing the cartiledge but will most likely do very little, if anything, to my rotator cuff. I know I'll be doing rehab for a while and that each person is different when it comes to recovery, but how long did it take any of you to recover from a similar surgery?

Answers:
i just had this surgery done on friday.fixed te labrum after a dislocation - the recovery isn't as painful as i expected it to be.only used the pain meds for about 3 days..today is day 4..and it's moving pretty good.

i'm in a sling..for about another week.then into phys. therapy.for 3 months.then he told me it would take a little more time after that to keep working with it.but expects me to heal and use it almost as if it was brand new.

i'm glad i did it though.already is feeling a little better..

hope your surgery goes well too..

Other Answers:
I hope you are prepared for a long rehab process. It can take 6 months to a year to be 100% after shoulder surgery. Ask your doctor specifically how long his rehab protocol is for this surgery.
