Heres a tip that might help - most alcoholics are deficient in B vitamins. If you stop drinking it would be a really good idea to take a B complex (must be a complex) vitamin each day for a little while. This will help with depression and mood swings, which you will probably encounter.

Alcohol withdrawl symptoms begin to appear 3-5 hours after your last drink. Upon waking, you may feel very nervous, shaking and mentally distracted. When consuming alot of alcohol on a daily basis for a while, lets say more than a 6 pack a day for a year - you will most likely need professional assistance to stop. You would need to go to your local hospital and they can place you in their rehab unit for three to five days. During this period, your BP needs to be monitored as well as watching for seizures that can occur, and can be fatal, although rare. The rehab will put you on meds that ease the withdrawal symptoms. From there, it is time. For the first few weeks you will feel as if your nerve endings are on fire. Join a local AA program - the hospital can direct you. Best to you. It's a terrible withdraw but once you get through it, you feel 100% better. There are several different medications you can take to assist with the withdraw symptoms, but make sure you stay hydrated.
