Question:
I'm a 17-year old student who received a varicella shot in 1989 in Mexico and then another one here in the U.S in 2004. My school says that the 1989 shot is invalid therefore I need a blood test or a vaccine to prove I have immunization.
Can't the 89' vaccine count? Should I go right ahead and get another shot? Would there be a problem if I get another shot just 2yrs. later after the second one?

Please help! I don't want a blood test, I freak out with pain.

Answers:
Get your nerve up and have the test. Just put a warm cloth on the vein a few minutes before they use a needle, and the vein will get bigger and easier to hit. It shouldn't hurt at all, unless you flinch (pull away) and move the needle at the wrong time. Better to be safe than sorry. Remember to use distraction during the test - concentrate as hard as you can on something (anything) else, and it will be over before you realise they have started!

Other Answers:
No, you're absolutely right, pay no attention to the doctors. What do they know? They just like cutting sh#t up!
