How long does an average sore throat last?

Question:
I have had a very bad sore throat and other symptoms for 5 days now. Is this normal, or do I need to see the doctor? My symptoms are: fever, chills, and trouble swallowing.

Answers:
your 'sore throat' could now be a laryngitis or tonsilitis. thats an infection that usually does not go away by itself = you prob will have to take antibiotics (most likely doxizycline). indicator for that is swating (=>fever) trouble swallowing (+ a lot of pain i would guess).
when your breath begins to smell different, its an other indicator for the infections mentioned above.
to make sure please go and see your doctor.

good luck

It just depends on your enviroment(especially when you sleep)
But yes i would go see the doctor

See your doctor. It sounds to me like you may have strep throat, and a doctor can prescribe the antibiotics needed to speed along your recovery. 3-5 days, you might have tonsillitis, so see your doc.

Yes,that doesn't sound right, you need to see the doctor fast. It might be somethingelse might be going on.

It depends how severe your have had. if it is acute I would give the body a chance to heal itself for a day or two and I would take seasalt and lime juices twice a days, drink a lot of water, avoid fired or hard food.
if it increase pain the next day I would consider to go to see my physician.

you may have strep throat. you need to go to the doctor and get it checked out usually last three days but if yours don,t go away by the 7th day see the doctor.

just depends but to get rid of your sore throat u peel a lemon and eat it i know it is sour but it will get rid of your sore throat
