if you have an allergy to fish does is increase your chances of having an allergy to shellfish?
Question:
Answers:
No, I don't think so. Fish and shellfish is like comparing apples to oranges.
Fish allergies : Just because you're allergic to one type of fish doesn't mean you have to avoid all fish.
Shellfish allergies : Unlike fish, a person allergic to shellfish must avoid all types of shellfish, as most will cause an allergic reaction.
I have had a couple allergic reactions to shrimp and iodine (used for a urologic procedure) , which is found in shellfish, but have had no problems, so far, with eating any type of fish.
Duh! Stay away from anything that lives in the water.
