Excercises for foot (& knee) pain?


Question:
My friend walks 30 mins 3-4 times a week, but one day she walked only 15 mins longer. The next day, her foot was somewhat sore and has now been sore for 2 months. Also, her knee then swelled up mildly. She will be seeing an orthopedist late next week, but are there any exercises she can do until then to limber and comfort her foot (& knee)?

Answers:
It depends on the age of a person. We all have growing pains when we are younger, but as we get older then the body cannot take on abuse as much. I am older now and from time to time I will have jiont pain that lasts for weeks if not months. It is probably okay to keep on exercising the affected area, it has always worked out for me. However if it is major pain then medical attention sould be looked into. At 44 years of age, I had minor shoulder pain from throwing a football that lasted many months before it just finally got better. As you age the time it takes to heal can increase quite a bit. Take care of your body.
