After working out, when my sweat evaporates it leaves behind massive deposits of salt. Why is this?

Question:
I know that sweat releases salt from your body, but when I sweat it leaves behind so much salt that it is visible over most of my face. Is this normal? Is this a cause for concern? I have never seen anyone else have salt left behind after sweating.

Answers:
It is normal for many people. I know after an hour of hard exercise, I will tend to leave behind salt rings on my clothes, face, and neck. There is no concern. I know some people who sweat enough to leave stains, and others who don't. I think it shows your were really working out hard and should be proud that you were not taking it easy. I try to run some water over my face before it can dry, just so that it does not make my skin feel a bit funny.

Other Answers:
Your salt intake is too high. Read labels.
