Put the number of cigarettes that you smoke into a ziplock bag at the beginning of each day. When you run out of what's in the bag, you're done smoking for the day. Each day or couple of days, cut back on what you put in the bag by one cigarette.
Figure out how much time you spend between cigarettes. If it's 10 minutes, try to go 15 between them. When you're used to 15, go for 20, then 25. The longer you go between, the less cigarettes you'll smoke over the course of the day.
And let yourself get mad at the cigarette company. Look at how much money you spend on cigarettes. That's lining some tabacco company executive's pockets. He knows you're likely to get sick and die from the cigarettes, but he doesn't care as long as he gets a lot of your money before you go. Do you want that guy to have that much control over you?
