See your physician if it is a large tear. You will need to rest and not play sports for a few weeks to allow it to heal.
Other Answers:
really depends upon how much of the tendon is torn. You do not want it to progress to a full tear/rupture - that will mean surgery for sure.
As previously stated, RICE it.
You can also use arnica gel to help decrease the bruising and swelling. Available from some pharmacies and health food stores (over-the-counter homeopathic medication).
Ask your doctor for a referal to a physical therapist - they can use various techniques to help you. While it is healing, you want it to heal properly, i.e. not too much scar tissue, minimal adhesions, maintain flexibility and regain your strength when appropriate. They can help you even in your early stages of recovery.
You need Ultrasound.Ultrasound helps the the healing process, speeds up metabolisim, as well as vascualr circulation to the area
