I am having surgery in 10 days and I am not permitted to take ibuprofen, etc., but I have a headache. HELP?

Question:
The nurse told me not to take ibuprofen, aleve, advil, and a few other things until after my surgery. I know this is because they thin the blood. I believe there was one type of medication she told me I could take. Tylenol? Does that NOT thin the blood? My head is pounding. please help!

Answers:
Tylenol has a different mechanism of action than the other drugs. It does not thin your blood and is safe to take before surgery.
Call your local pharmacist. ask him. If you can't do that, take a hot bath and go to bed. don't risk it.
Maybe your headache is as a result of stress worrying about your surgery. Warm bath with some lavender oil should help you relax. You might be able to take paracetamol but check first
Tylenol is the only one you can take before
surgery. It will not thin your blood. The others
can, and will risk your surgery. Try the Tylenol,
and if you still have a headache call your doctor.
Put a cold pack on your head. That's what the doctor advice me went I could not take any meds.
Try massaging your hand between your thumb and your four finger. And massage your feet just below your toes. Sound crazy but it just might work. I would also try the Tylenol and a warm shower. good luck with your headache.
